Field Notes

Description:

This insect measures about 3/4" from head to tail and has a wing span of about the same amount.

Habitat:

tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica one month into the six month dry season. It was resting on the leeward side of a banana trunk

thanks Latimeria. I found many plume moths in my searches but none that came close in coloration. I decided to go ahead and put Pterophorus sp. and leave it as unidentified. The more spottings I have the more I feel that there are so many unidentified or fully studied species here in Costa Rica. I am sure, that with time, we will discover many new species here in Costa which shall be revealed here on Project Noah.
