Field Notes

Description:

Diameter may reach up to 50cm, but frequently much smaller.Body has plump, rounded, tapering rays; surface covered with irregularly arranged spines surrounded by pedicellariae. Colour brown- yellow above; paler below.

Habitat:

On rocks and stony ground, in mussel and oyster beds from lower shore down to 200m.
