Description:

Green iridescent beatle. Very small.

Habitat:

We found it in the Fossil Falls area of Inyo, CA in the dirt.

Notes:

It looks similar to a green tiger beetle, but not sure if that is what it is, as other sightings are from Eastern US.

yes, I agree with Gordon, this is a Meloid beetle
I don't think this is a tiger beetle. It may be a blister beetle. You might be able to narrow down your ID using bugguide.net. Start at http://bugguide.net/node/view/181/bgimage?from=0. There are a number of species that resemble your spotting.
