Description:

these guys are about 1/2" long. I spotted various on my property today. there were various pairs mating in our compost pile. they are very colorful with brown and black bodies, green abdomens, and red legs and heads.

Habitat:

tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica one month into the six month dry season

I think I saw this species in Santa Rosa National Park, also mating. Not sure which species they are, but I think they're probably seed bugs in the family Lygaeidae.
