Field Notes

Description:

Black beetle with bands of yellow along its abdomen, and along the front edge of its pronotum.

Habitat:

Under the bark of decaying wood--within a forest.

Notes:

I almost took it for a wasp when I first saw it. Longhorned beetles are pretty amazing! Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
