Field Notes

Description:

Small triangular moth with pointed snout. It is largely a splotchy yellow but has a dark purple band in the middle...the purple is unusual, I have not seen many purple moths. There appears to be a white circle on the mid-dorsal line.

Synonym: Lipararchis tranquillalis

Habitat:

Campus of the Neora Valley Jungle Camp.Hilly. Forested. Himalayan foothills. Remote. Moth paradise. Wild and forested area; the porch lights draw the moths in.

Notes:

At night the low wattage of the porch light is not enough to shoot the moths well. The flash bleaches out their colours. I experimented with a small hand-held torch...hence the pool of light and darkness outside...one handed shots often come out blurry though.
