Description:
The ʻŌhelo ʻai is a small shrub endemic to the Hawaiian Islands, it's leaves are an oval evergreen and spirally arranged. It has an edible circular bright red fruit, and its flower is bell-shaped with colors ranging from red to light pink.
Habitat:
Found at 5,000-5,500' elevation in the upper Waiakea Forest Reserve. The ʻōhiʻa lehua was found in a lava flow from 1881.
