Description:
It is a medium sized sulpher butterfly in the family (Pieridae).The butterfly is called the sleepy orange because the underside patterns on the butterfly resemble a person sleeping.The butterfly was laying eggs on a Senna plant, (Senna sp.).This species original name was the Rigorous orange because of how fast they fly but then the name changed.The front side of the butterfly has orange and black with the back having pink and yellow.
Habitat:
Semi-urban, Fort Worth, Texas.
Notes:
It is a North American butterfly in the family Pieridae. It is also found in the West Indies, Costa Rica and Belize.The butterflies relatives are the Orange sulpher and the Tailed orange.
