Field Notes

Description:

A cuttlefish's eggs are kept in a sturdy, pillow-shaped capsule, which in some species is coloured with ink. The batch of eggs is left to its own devices, until, for example, the fully developed young of Sepia pharaonis, hatch 19 days later at a size of about ten millimetres.
