Description:
As its common name suggests, this tree has shaggy bark--it looks like it's peeling away. The leaves are compound, serrate, and have 3, 5, or 7 leaflets.

After you've seen it once, this tree is fairly easy to recognize at a glance in the forest. Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
