Description:

The Kea is a parrot who isn't afraid of people. He will gladly sit on your car and destroy al loose parts. Still I think it is a pleasant bird to encounter.

@Lori, I am sorry to hear this, when I was over there I had numerous of encounters. But the most special to me was the one in the tree. Many people tried to figure out what I was shooting, and after looking closely they figured it out.
Lovely spotting. Suggest you get the last pic ahead.
Tony, when my partner and I traveled the South Island a few years ago, we were told that we would definitely see a Kea, most likely when it was tearing the windshield wipers off our rental car when we got back to it, and especially in the glacier region. Not once did we see one in the wild! On our last day we went to a wildlife park and finally got to see two spectacular ones. We saw lots of Kaka, though.
