Field Notes

Description:

Red eyes, dark body with orange spots on the dorsal side of its abdomen. Wings patterned with black.

Habitat:

Field, near a river.

Notes:

I haven't had much experience with dragonflies, but comparing other images within the genus led me to this species. This individual was resting in a field of tall grassy plants during late evening. Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
