Thank you Hemma and Smith'sZoo
the 4th pic is a masterpiece.
That pupa is a candidate for mimicry. Our possums make those every night.
The anchoring is very strong. Here is one I cannot identify. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7903440
The flexibility is amazing.Perfect loop and then as straight as a ruler.Anchoring must be strong!
Added the pupa image to this set.
Arhodia lasiocamparia Guenée, 1857 http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/chro/lasioc.html
Argybee, there's only one thing for it. I will grow this one out in captivity and see what develops. Its clearly already a final instar so should be no problem. My other spotting of a looper http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7903440 ended very swiftly when it escaped before I got back to my car:(
Hi Martin.. Its an Inchworm... called for Caterpillar of a Geometridae family moth. http://www.google.co.in/search?q=Geometridae+caterpillar&hl=en&rlz=1C1CHNU_enIN348IN348&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=aLwCT5O-NoKIrAe5sNzUDw&ved=0CDEQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=713
