Description:

I feel like I should be able to identify this bird, but as yet haven't been able to. It was about the size of a sparrow, with a definite contrast in the colours of its feathers on its back and a vivid green glint of the feathers under its wings. It also had a tufted head and black line coming from the corner of its eye and its beak was quite dumpy and thick at the head end.

Thank you DanielePralong and Liam, we do have several blue tits in our garden, but I did think that the beak was too stumpy and the birds overall size seemed a bit too big. I will have a look at the Brambling, not sure if we get them in Turkey will keep you posted. Thank you Sachin Zaveri for your comment.

The bill is wrong for Blue Tit. The pale nape is a good field mark for Brambling. Not sure about the yellow rump, though.
