Field Notes

Description:

Shiny metallic golden beetle.
Second in four days!

Habitat:

Clinging asleep to a waxy silver gum leaf.
The second specimen is on the green leaf (pic 1 & 2)

Notes:

This is the first true christmas beetle that I've seen this season. They are occasionally very common but there hasn't been a good crop for many years. It started asleep on the leaf and woke and flew off giving me time for these pics=)

Thanks for the comments. We Aussies love this beetle. The macro of the face is just the feature pic that I've cropped.
