Notes:
@ Liam two more unusual ducks with bright red beaks.
What really puzzles me is ,that we have another nature reserve near by ,but I have not seen these great amount of variations in that pond.
i think that the muscovy hybrid is supposed to be tasty. I am completely vegetarian ,will never know.
Considering the hybrids, the mallard seems to be a very aggressive kind of duck1
Yes, I noticed you had a lot of hybrids. The hybrid mallard I spotted in the fall has migrated.I went to look for him last week to see if he may have had a new mate. But he flew the coop. From what I have read, these mallards mate with all the other ducks. Over in Europe some farmers interbreed ducks to get a particular type for food sources. In the wild, Im not sure if its good, that the Mallard duck wipes out a genetic population of a endangered species?
@ pyoung, There is a pond in Concord and I find a lots of variety over there. Liam helps me Id them . Otherwise I would be totally lost. Have you seen my waterfowl in the birds section. I was myself surprised to find so many hybrids and variety.
