Field Notes
Description:
The area that we found the mushroom in was like a little field. We found this mushroom in a group with other mushrooms just like it. They were in front of beech, maple, oak, and pine trees. As i said before, they were in a group of about 10 mushrooms, all the same size and shape. They had no odor and weren’t slimy. They were very jiggly if you happened to poke them with your pencils eraser. Seeing as the cap wasn’t slimy, it was pretty dry and it was light brown, same as the stalk and stem. The underside of the cap had gills and the gills weren’t attached to the stalk. The mushrooms were found on the first of November. I believe that this mushroom is a type of milkcap mushroom because it has all the characteristics of a milkcap mushroom except for the locations of milkcap mushrooms which would be in Europe. The mushroom was 3 1/2 centimeters across the cap and 4 1/2 centimeters tall.
Habitat:
The mushrooms that we found were near beech trees. They were in a group of about 10 ranging in sizes from tiny to about the size of a quarter.
