Field Notes
Description:
A small bee about 10 mm long with a smooth, slightly flattened abdomen which had pale yellow and black bands. Abdomen curved downwards while feeding.
head and thorax did not seem to have any remarkable features. Legs were laden with pollen.
Habitat:
Flowering Eucalyptus
Notes:
A very busy little bee that flew from flower to flower, feeding alongside a common honey bee, on this beautiful pink flowering gum. This native bee appeared much smaller in size and lighter than its neighbour.
I would appreciate any help with identifying this bee - I suspect it's Lasioglossum sp (female)
