Field Notes

Description:

Queen collected outside of Mathis, TX. Notice fungal colony being farmed by ants.

Habitat:

Near wooded area, but located in grassy area.. Sandy soil, queen flew from nearby mounds approx 10-15' around.

Notes:

Captive female queen collected from the wild. Laid eggs, resulting ants in picture (other then queen) are the offspring.
