Field Notes

Description:

yellow spider with a body of the size of a grape

Notes:

I saw this spider back in october in a wineyard. Rather big, rather yellow and rather fast. Could anyone help me id him or her? There was a second one pretty near, same drawing but brownish and too fast for my camera, so maybe that's a gender specific color? i don't know.

Species ID Suggestions

four spot orb-weaver

Araneus quadratus

i've looked around and it could be some araneus quadratus color morph, what do you guys think?
