This is too cool! Great find and a awesome shots.
Nice shot!! I took picture of the same butterfly.
Yes flash does change colors somewhat & the white could just be reflected light. The form looks right. Here is a recent spotting of mine that shows the more typical color - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7283870
I'll dig a little deeper to be sure, but I know the colors are enhanced due to close shooting with flash. Stay tuned... :-)
Lovely! Are you sure it's a gulf fritillary though? They are usually red or red & black striped whereas this looks to have purple & orange too although that could just be the light.
