Field Notes

Description:

Mainly orange but debatably very light brown. It has a very light/faded stripe along the back.

Habitat:

We found it at the side of our home when we were cutting some overgrown plants down.

Melbourne, Victoria. Specifically the suburban area.

Notes:

If it is a garden spider, I am curious about its coloration as well as why it was on a lying down position on a leaf rather then in a web (it even looked like it was within a web cocoon for lack of better description).
