Field Notes

Habitat:

Rivers and large streams, including alluvial, blackwater, and
spring-run streams, often with dense aquatic vegetation upon which
species feeds. Occasionally enters estuaries at river mouths. Basks
extensively on logs and floating vegetation mats. Nests on high banks and
bars above floodplain. They are endemic to Florida, including in the Suwannee River

Notes:

There were tons of these along the whole rout that we kayaked. I am confident of ID on the first couple of individual photos. I believe all the ones in the groups are also "Suwannees", but not as positive on ID for all individuals.
