Field Notes

Description:

Gray belly with black and white streaked back. The male has a gold patch at the base of the bill and on the back of the head, and a bright red patch on top of the head.

Habitat:

Came in for a drink at the bird blind in Palo Duro Canyon SP.

Thanks Tom! I loved the way they held on to the rock and drank from the stream, couldn't help but to take pictures :) We get a big cold front this weekend, so I'm going to get out and hope for some good birds at the feeders!
