Professor red earth. I think modern insects are successful because they inhabit two different spaces as larvae and adults meaning they can double their population. The immobile pupa where some bodily structures dissolve, is like a second egg stage to a different organism
Thank you Sergio and thank you Martini. I was wondering about the 'technology' this butterfly using. Mimicry, roping, balancing etc. And this chrysalis stage is entirely different from being a caterpillar or a butterfly. :))
What a good mimic. A mime is a terrific name for this butterfly in all of its life stages. This is a pupa (crysalis) and not the caterpillar (larva) anymore.
