Field Notes

Description:

Female red eared slider grows to 25-33 cm(10-13 in) and males 20-25 cm (8-10 in). The red stripe on their side on the head distinguishes them from other turtles

Habitat:

They enjoy large areas where they can swim free. They also need a place for them to rest when they get tired, or catch the warmth of the sun

Notes:

People often keep these turtles as pets.
Reproduction occurs mainly between March and July,mating takes up to 10 to 15 mins.
It takes 60 to 90 days until the eggs hatch.
