Field Notes

Description:

It had a nice blue color on its horns though its not clearly visible in the photograph. It is uncommon, and can be found in the rain aswell as on clear evenings. As with Oak Silk Moths, they are very skittish so extra care must be taken with approach. They are not related to fireflies.Despite their misleading appearance and name, they are actually members of the cicada family.

Habitat:

On the trunk of a tree..
