Field Notes

Description:

Ant mounds, measuring roughly 12" in height by 18" in diameter. No ants were visible, so I was unable to make a species id. Could possibly be the Allegheny mound ant.

Habitat:

Shrub/forest edge with some open areas. Sandy soil.
