Description:
Orthoptera; Gryllidae; Gryllus bimaculatus De Geer, 1773. "Gryllus bimaculatus is a species of cricket in the subfamily Gryllinae. Most commonly known as the two-spotted cricket, it has also been called the "African" or "Mediterranean field cricket", although its recorded distribution also includes much of Asia, including Korea, China and Indochina through to Borneo. It can be discriminated from other Gryllus species by the two dot-like marks on the base of its wings." Wikipedia.
Habitat:
This robust and healthy looking Cricket was spotted behind our house in the vegetable plot which was not in use at that time of year. When the rainy season gets underway, that area gets flooded as it is adjacent to rice land. However, there were grasses and other wild growth which seemed to give this cricket some shelter in which to move around.
