Field Notes

Description:

Grows as a vine, the small younger leaves are vibrant red to purple, very shiny and waxy/oily. the larger greener leaves are not as shiny/waxy.
The entire stem and vine itself is red/purple in color.

I have never seen them with flowers, so I assume that it does not flower.

Is growing year round, both red and green colors.

Habitat:

It likes shady locations but I have seen it in sunny grassy fields, grows in almost any bushy/brush area in Louisiana. Climbs everything.

Notes:

Some people confuse Peppervine for poison ivy, sumac, oak etc but is harmless.
