Description:
This species has a thick body with a distinctive diamond patterns on its back. It also has black and white rings near the rattle. There are also two diagonal black stripes on either side of its face.
Habitat:
The Western Diamondback lives in the southwestern states of the United States (Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and California. It can also be found in the northern part of Mexico. It is not picky about its habitat and can be found living in elevations from below sea level to 6500 feet. The habitat varies from grasslands, plains, deserts, and mountains.
Notes:
This rattlesnake was spotted in Saguaro National Park crossing a trail about an hour before sunset.
