Field Notes

Description:

A smooth "glass-like" legless lizard. This lizard has smooth skink-like scales and can easily detach its tail to avoid capture.

Habitat:

This lizard can be found in both woodlands and grasslands. It has an affinity for rock piles.

Notes:

This lizard can be distinguished from a snake by its external ear opening, and eyelids . . . snakes have neither.
