These crane flies are extremely common in Sabah. They love to hang out in groups by hanging onto a thread of spider's silk. They are not stuck and could easily fly away. I see them almost everyday and yet I could not find out their ID.
These are craneflies (Flies=diptera have two wings and include midges, craneflies and mosquitoes) Craneflies are large and often hang from foliage. These selected a perch that required hanging with only two legs. Nice.
Hi Julio it is not actually a mosquito, they are not trapped either Christine, but it looks like they are part of the web.Still waiting for the scientist out there for the ID. Thanks for your visit, have a lovely day.
Bizzar. Are they trapped on this (?)spider thread ?
