Field Notes

Description:

A small woodpecker. I identified this one by its descending chattering before I spotted it resting along the branch.

Habitat:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lurie_Garden
In the heart of the Lurie Garden, which a rather small oasis East off of Michigan Avenue in Chicago. There are a smattering of locus trees in an otherwise urban environment, directly across from the Museum of Modern Art. I've included a picture of the buildings directly across the street.
