Description:
A sparrow species that breeds in the northern United States and boreal Canada. It overwinters mainly in the eastern United States however a small but regular number spend the cold months on the coastal West. Distinguished from the similar-looking Song Sparrow with the brighter rufous wings, more yellow-ish lores, and much more subtle amount of streaking on the sides and breast.
Notes:
Overwintered in Palo Alto Baylands in saltmarsh next to airstrip.
