Description:

A diving duck of North and South America that nests in marshy areas and overwinters in places of unfrozen water. This species feeds on aquatic vegetation and invertebrates and is found in huge numbers in the San Francisco Bay during winter.

Notes:

Picture caught just as duck dove below the surface.
