Description:

This taratula hole is for a large adult. they make holes for cover in the day and hunt at night. They put a web over the hole at the end of the night to keep predators like the tarantula hawk out during the day.

Habitat:

tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica, 7 weeks into the 6 month dry season

it does look like a funnel web nest Nicholas. The main difference is that this species of taratula actually makes a hole in the ground. When it finishes hunting in the morning it enters the hole and then makes the web at the entry to prevent access to predators like the tarantula hawk or others.
