Until visiting Costa Rica my experience with hoppers had been the tiny colorful closed-winged bugs among the weeds. Unfortunately, this one got lost in the shuffle (apologies, bayucca). Here is another 'new' hopper from the same area: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8306946 And thank you, J, for bringing this back to my attention (I'm a lousy "housekeeper").
It is beautiful, but it looks like a bird or lizard took a bite from it's wing.
It is not a moth, but a Derbidae, Derbid Hopper species. Auchenorryncha, Fulgoroideae, Derbidae.
What a pretty delicate moth!
