Description:

This is a spiny black caterpillar with red spots.

Habitat:

This caterpillar was climbing a wall.

Notes:

These caterpillars become visible in large numbers a few times a year as they climb walls to look for places to make a chrysalis.

The similarity is eerie between the Edith checkerspot butterfly and the mourning cloak butterfly.What is fascinating is the fact ,similar looking caterpillars,but the butterflies that emerge are totally different.
