Description:

The common black carpenter ant. These are a common household pest though fortunately, I had the pleasure of finding this one outside. This species is known to forage up to 100 yd. for food!

Habitat:

These guys live in houses and outdoors (thank goodness for that) and often times live inside trees (hence the "carpenter" portion of the name.)

Notes:

I found this at a camp a while ago, it was by far the best picture I took there.
