As you can see these deer are almost black. This is a typical color that I haven't seen on Fallow deer in other places.

Have you seen my other pictures? There are some photos of male deer.
I think that you were lucky enough to spot a male. The local male deer here are almost inconspicuous. All we spot is females.
What you see here is their thick winter fur. As you can see they realy need it. And yes they are very shy.

Yes they are, and there are so many of them around here that it's a lot of fun going out there. Nevertheless you still have to be careful and quiet.
