Field Notes

Description:

This turtle has a low, rounded, dark carapace. Two light-colored lines run along each side of the head and barbels can be found on the chin and throat. The single hinge on the plastron may be difficult to see. There is one gular scute on the plastron, giving a total of 11 scutes on the plastron. The pectoral scute on the plastron is rectangular.

Quiet, shallow or muddy-bottomed aquatic habitats
