Description:
A large gull found on the West Coast of North America that breeds from Alaska to Washington easily identified as adults with their gray and not black wingtips. Overwintering birds can also be found as far as Southern California. In Northern Washington especially around Puget Sound, this species hybridizes extensively with its closest relative the Western Gull (Larus occidentalis), forming the extremely variable hybrid known as the "Olympic Gull".
