Field Notes

Description:

This golden yellow spider is about 1 cm. It seems waiting for its prey (such as aphids) to show up on this hybrid Phalaenopsis.

Notes:

This is a nice relationship; the orchid benefit from the small spider's presence. Orchid blooms last longer and the spider catches its prey.

Very pretty! I'm not sure that the orchid benefits from this relationship though as spiders usually prey on pollinating insects - aphids & other sap suckers are generally found on the stems of the plant not the flower.
