Field Notes

Description:

Water striders are able to walk on top of water. Using a surface tension of water and long, hydrophobic legs to help them stay above water. They are also able to jump and glide in the air if they have to. I just found this ability when I tried to kill them by pressing them under water.

Habitat:

Surfaces of calm freshwater with the temperature above 20 degree Celsius.
