Common Barklice

Barklice or Booklice are easily mistaken for psyllids or aphids, except for their chewing mouth parts and long antennae. Many are colonial. Adults may be winged, wingless, or have reduced wings. The majority graze on lichens, molds, or fungi, or scavenge on detritus. There are 28 families represented north of Mexico, but most often seen are Common Barklice. (per Kenn Kaufman)
