Field Notes

Description:

The black-crested titmouse is small songbird 5.5-6 inches long, with rusty flanks, gray upperparts and a white belly. At one point it was considered a subspecies of the Tufted titmouse but was recognized as a separated species in 2002.

Habitat:

The Black-crested titmouse is native to Texas, Oklahoma, and east-central Mexico.
