Thanks for trying Jacob! I've discovered that there are several species that look very similar & I don't want hazard a guess as to which this is!
Seeing that it does not look like it has a designated location to secrete the juices, I would say that it is an injury. Doesn't look to be fatal. I tried looking for ID, but couldn't find much, just Geometrid moth. Sorry I couldn't help much.

Hi Karen! If you look towards his back, he looks somewhat injured...or is he emitting a sort of protective fluid?
