Description:

an emergent tree of the rainforests, towering over other trees and featured in children's book the Kapok tree which showed the tree's many uses. Kapok fibre is light and bouyant and was once used for life preservers and vests. The seeds yeild a non drying oil. The tree grows to 250 feet with a trunk of 10 feet with many buttresses. It also supports many other plants and animals

Notes:

As someone who lives within 2 hours' drive of the redwoods and visits regularly, this tree impressed me with its size and stature
