This curious critter became a friend of mine for part of a summer....I was sad when it wasn't there anymore.

Checking at the web site : http://www.english-country-garden.com/animals/crab-spider.htm Misumena vatia is the most likely :-)
Crab spiders commonly mimetize their color to that of the place where they are to hunt. See my spotting below: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6524710 Yours is yellow. Perhaps also a different genus, since the locations are far a part.
